The German PwC M&A team is pleased to announce the successful Closing of Project BACCHUS, the sale of the “Kurpfalz Sekt” trademark as well as of the private label business of Henkell & Co. Sektkellerei KG (“Henkell”), a leading manufacturer and distributor of sparkling wine, wine and spirits, to Bernard-Massard Sektkellerei GmbH (“Bernard-Massard”), a manufacturer and distributor of branded as well as private label sparkling wines, wines and spirits. PwC M&A acted as exclusive financial advisor to the vendor.
Henkell & Co.-Gruppe is represented by its subsidiaries in 22 countries, exporting to more than 100 countries around the globe. It is the market leader for wine, sparkling wine, Prosecco or various categories of spirits in numerous countries. The building where Henkell was founded remains the headquarters of the Henkell & Co.-Gruppe, to which brands such as Henkell, Mionetto, Champagne Alfred Gratien, Törley Sekt, i heart WINES and Mangaroca Batida de Côco belong.
Bernard-Massard was founded in 1919 by Jean Bernard-Massard in Trier, Germany. The Company produces high quality sparkling wines and “Cremant” using regional wines from the Moselle and Saar regions. Bernard-Massard produces both branded as well as private label products.
