PwC M&A is pleased to announce the successful Closing of Project TUMI, the acquisition of a majority stake in both Artesco S.A. (“ARTESCO”) and Mova Industrial S.A.C. (“MOVA”, together “Company”) by STAEDTLER Noris GmbH (“STAEDTLER”). PwC M&A acted as exclusive M&A advisor to STAEDTLER with a team staffed by German and Peruvian advisors.
The acquisition enables STAEDTLER to increase its market presence, customer base and supply chain footprint in Latin America. Following the acquisition, STAEDTLER will become a major player for school and office supplies in Latin America.
PwC supported STAEDTLER not only in its role as exclusive M&A advisor but also provided additional services including Financial, Tax, Labour and Legal Due Diligence. Based on its ability to deliver services in Germany and Peru out of one hand, PwC was the preferred partner for STAEDTLER to help them execute the M&A process.
“This Joint Venture is a great asset for us. For many years we have a production facility on the American continent again and thus a significantly stronger positioning within the Latin American markets”, says Axel Marx, CEO of STAEDTLER. “Both brands form a perfect synergy.”
STAEDTLER is one of the oldest industrial companies in Germany and ranks among the world's leading manufacturers and suppliers of writing, colouring, drawing and creative products. An international company, with its headquarters in Germany and a high export quota, STAEDTLER has 2,100 employees worldwide, more than 1,200 of them in Germany alone. The long-established company, manufacturing almost three-quarter of its articles in Germany, is the largest manufacturer of wood-cased pencils, OHP pens, erasers, mechanical pencil leads and modelling clays in Europe.
ARTESCO and MOVA (a sole producer for the Artesco brand) – headquartered in Lima, Peru – are leading Peruvian manufacturers of school and office supplies. ARTESCO has an excellent and leading position in the local market. ARTESCO, founded in 1976, was since its establishment fully owned by the founding family.
